Dubai Hills
European Golf Design built Dubai Hills in 2019 as a modern championship course in the middle of a new city district, a par 72 to about 7,283 yards run by Troon with the Burj Khalifa on the skyline. Since 2024 it has hosted the DP World Tour Dubai Invitational, and for visitors it is one of the most polished, accessible rounds in the city.

The verdict
Dubai Hills is the city's newest tournament course and one of its easiest to love. European Golf Design routed it through the Dubai Hills Estate, a planned community of villas and parks a short drive from Downtown, and the result is a clean, contemporary par 72 with wide manicured fairways, generous landing areas and clever green complexes that sharpen as the round goes on. The skyline views, with the Burj Khalifa rising beyond the closing holes, make it feel unmistakably Dubai.
It earns its place on a trip through quality and convenience. Troon runs the operation to a high standard, the clubhouse is excellent, and the course is challenging enough to test a low handicapper from the back tees while staying very playable from the forward markers. The Dubai Invitational, brought to the club in January 2024, gives it tour pedigree to match the polish. For a winter golf break it pairs naturally with the older Dubai classics.

The holes worth the trip
Dubai Hills opens generously, with broad fairways framed by mounding and sandy waste that flatter the driver and let you find your rhythm. The design hides its teeth in the green complexes: subtle false fronts, run offs and tiers that ask for a precise approach and a deft short game, so a wide drive does not always mean an easy par.
Water and strategy build through the middle of the round. Lakes come into play on several holes, and the par 5s tempt the longer hitter to take on a carry for a look at the green in two. The risk and reward is calibrated for the resort golfer as much as the tour player, which is why the course can stretch past 7,200 yards yet still feel fair from the right tee.
The finish is the showpiece, playing back toward the clubhouse and the towers of Downtown Dubai with the Burj Khalifa as a backdrop. It is a closing stretch built for a grandstand and a photograph, and it gives a visiting group a memorable, high quality round within minutes of the city's hotels and restaurants.
