Barnbougle Bougle Run
Bill Coore routed Bougle Run through the tallest dunes at Barnbougle, a 14 hole short course of mostly par 3s that opened in March 2021. Playful, walkable and wildly scenic, with front tees positioned so you can putt the ball the length of every hole, it is the perfect foil to the two championship links on the property.

The verdict
Barnbougle, on the wild northeast coast of Tasmania near Bridport, is one of the great links destinations in the world, home to the Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm courses. Bougle Run, the work of Bill Coore of Coore and Crenshaw, is the resort's short course, threaded through the towering dunes between the two nines at Lost Farm and opened in March 2021.
It is 14 holes, twelve of them par 3s and two short par 4s, set in some of the most dramatic dune land on the site. The genius is in the flexibility, the shortest tee on every hole is placed so a putter will do, which makes it joyous for families and beginners, while the back tees still give the low handicapper plenty to think about. It is pure fun in a spectacular setting, and the ideal way to round out a Tasmanian links pilgrimage.

Designer, opening year and routing verified June 2026 from Barnbougle and leading course databases. Bougle Run is a Bill Coore design opened in March 2021, a 14 hole short course of twelve par 3s and two short par 4s, a par of 44, set in the tall dunes between the two nines at Lost Farm. It is open to resort guests and public play; the short course green fee is modest and seasonal, indicative for 2026, so always confirm the current rate directly before booking.
The holes worth the trip
Bougle Run is short in yardage but rich in ideas, with Coore using the biggest dunes on the property to create wildly varied par 3s that swing from tiny pitches to long, exposed shots into the wind. No two holes feel alike, and the constant elevation change keeps club selection and imagination at the centre of the round.
The greens are full of movement and surrounded by the kind of run offs, hollows and humps that reward a creative short game. Because every hole has a front tee from which you can putt the whole way, the course flexes from a gentle family loop to a genuine examination of touch and trajectory, all on the same ground.
Played in the late afternoon light with the Tasmanian coast spread out below, it is as much a joy as a test. Bougle Run is not trying to be a championship course and is all the better for it, a brilliant, walkable companion to Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm that no visitor to the resort should skip.

Where to stay nearby
The obvious base is Barnbougle itself, with lodging at both the Dunes and Lost Farm that puts all three courses, including Bougle Run, on your doorstep. Staying on site is the way to make the most of a links trip to this remote corner of Tasmania.
For a wider trip, Launceston and the Tamar Valley are an hour away and add cellar doors and good food to the golf, while the rest of Tasmania rewards anyone who lingers. It is a destination worth building a dedicated golf and island holiday around, with Barnbougle's links and Bougle Run at its heart.
