The Best Golf Courses in Nevada

Nevada is golf as spectacle, from Tom Fazio's man made oasis at Shadow Creek to the pines and Lake Tahoe blue of Edgewood, the waterfalls of Cascata and the canyon drama of Mesquite. Our ranked eight across the state, with verdicts, designers and how to play them.

How we ranked them

No state turns golf into theatre quite like Nevada. Around Las Vegas the desert has been transformed into a string of extravagant courses, led by Shadow Creek, the Tom Fazio fantasy carved from flat scrub at vast expense, and Cascata with its mountainside waterfall. Up at Lake Tahoe the mood changes entirely, to alpine pines and lakeside greens at Edgewood, and out in Mesquite the land itself does the drama, with fairways slung between red rock canyons. We weighed the quality and conditioning of the golf, the strength and originality of the setting, the pedigree of the design and how readily a visiting group can get on.

Every fact here, the designers, the opening years and the indicative green fees, was checked at the time of writing in June 2026 by the GolfForKings editorial desk. Nevada fees swing hard with the season, very high in the cooler months around Las Vegas and a fraction of that in the summer heat, while Tahoe runs the opposite calendar, so treat the numbers as a guide and always confirm directly before booking. The verdicts are ours. If your group wants any of these built into a costed itinerary, with the tee times, transfers and the right hotel secured, that is exactly what our concierge does.

The 8 best golf courses in Nevada

1

Shadow Creek Golf Course

Tom Fazio, 1989 · North Las Vegas

The most famous course in the state and one of the great feats of golf architecture, Tom Fazio's Shadow Creek was conjured from flat desert for Steve Wynn at a cost of around 60 million dollars, a secluded valley of pines, creeks and waterfalls with no desert in sight. Consistently ranked among America's best, and at around 1,250 dollars including caddie and limousine the most expensive public tee time in the country. The clear number one.

2

Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course

George Fazio, 1968 · Stateline, Lake Tahoe

One of golf's most telegenic courses, the annual host of the celebrity American Century Championship, George Fazio's Edgewood runs through stately pines to a finish of three holes on the shore of Lake Tahoe. A long, beautifully conditioned mountain course at 6,200 feet, it is the finest golf in northern Nevada and a complete change of mood from the Vegas desert. A bucket list round.

3

Cascata Golf Club

Rees Jones, 2000 · Boulder City

An engineering spectacle southeast of Las Vegas, Rees Jones's Cascata climbs a steep, rocky hillside with more than 800 feet of elevation change, its clubhouse built around a 418 foot waterfall that flows right through the building. Dramatic, immaculate and exclusive, it is the most theatrical mountain round near the Strip and a regular in the national rankings of courses you can play.

4

Wynn Golf Club

Tom Fazio, redesigned 2019 · the Las Vegas Strip

The only championship course on the Strip itself, Tom Fazio's Wynn course was rebuilt and reopened in 2019 with waterfalls, a 37 foot drop to the closing green and lush, secluded landscaping behind the resort. Expensive and supremely convenient, you can walk from your suite to the first tee, it is the ultimate luxury round for a Las Vegas trip short on time.

5

Wolf Course, Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort

Pete Dye, 2001 · northwest of Las Vegas

The third and toughest of Pete Dye's three courses on the Las Vegas Paiute reservation, the Wolf stretches to more than 7,500 yards through open Mojave desert, with an island green, signature railroad tie bunkering and Dye's trademark intimidation. Quiet, walkable and excellent value for the quality, it is the best public daily fee golf in the Las Vegas area.

6

Reflection Bay Golf Club

Jack Nicklaus, 1998 · Lake Las Vegas

The only Jack Nicklaus Signature design in Nevada, Reflection Bay wraps around the shore of Lake Las Vegas with more than a mile of frontage and several holes playing along and across the water. A polished resort course in a Mediterranean style setting half an hour from the Strip, it pairs naturally with a lakeside stay for a more relaxed Vegas golf trip.

7

Wolf Creek Golf Club

Dennis Rider, 2000 · Mesquite

The most photographed course in the state, Wolf Creek is carved into the red rock canyons of Mesquite, an hour and a half northeast of Las Vegas, with vertiginous tee shots, fairways slung between the cliffs and elevation changes that defy belief. More thrill ride than tournament test, it is unforgettable to play and superb value, the highlight of a Mesquite golf trip.

8

Bali Hai Golf Club

Schmidt and Curley, 2000 · the Las Vegas Strip

The most accessible serious round on the Strip, the Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley designed Bali Hai sits beside Mandalay Bay with a South Pacific theme of palms, lagoons, tropical flowers and white sand bunkering. Convenient, lively and walkable from the south Strip, it is the easy choice for a single round squeezed into a Las Vegas weekend.

Designers and opening years verified June 2026 by the GolfForKings editorial desk. Most courses here are public, resort or hotel guest access, with peak rates in the cooler months around Las Vegas and the summer at Tahoe. Always confirm visitor access and fees directly before booking.

Where they are, and indicative costs

Nevada golf splits into three pockets. Greater Las Vegas holds the headline acts, Shadow Creek and Bali Hai in the north and on the Strip, Wynn behind its resort, Cascata to the southeast at Boulder City, Reflection Bay at Lake Las Vegas and the Paiute courses out to the northwest. Mesquite, with Wolf Creek, sits an hour and a half up the interstate toward Utah. And in the far northwest, Edgewood Tahoe rises on the Nevada shore of Lake Tahoe, a five hundred mile drive but a different world of alpine golf. Harry Reid airport in Las Vegas serves the south, Reno the Tahoe end. A Vegas golf week is simple to assemble from one Strip base.

Shadow Creek in North Las Vegas, the Tom Fazio masterpiece created in 1989 on flat desert at a cost of around 60 million dollars, is our number one, a man made oasis of pines, creeks and elevation consistently ranked among the very best courses in America that the public can access. Edgewood Tahoe and Cascata complete the top three. Our ranking weighs the golf, the setting and the experience together.

When is the best time to play golf in Nevada?

Around Las Vegas, spring and autumn, March to May and October to November, are ideal, with warm, dry days and firm desert turf. At Lake Tahoe the season is the reverse, with Edgewood Tahoe playing through the cool mountain summer and closing in winter. Always confirm conditions before you travel.

It is a wide range. Shadow Creek sits at the very top, with an indicative 2026 green fee of around 1,250 US dollars including caddie and limousine transfer for MGM Resorts hotel guests. Cascata, Wynn and Edgewood Tahoe sit roughly in the 350 to 650 dollar band in season, while excellent value courses such as the Wolf at Las Vegas Paiute, Wolf Creek in Mesquite and Bali Hai run closer to 100 to 250 dollars.
