Golf in Dubai in Summer: How to Cope

From June to September, Dubai turns into a furnace, and its tee sheets turn into bargains. The courses that charge winter visitors a premium drop to a fraction of peak rates, the fairways are quiet, and the city has two genuine workarounds: dawn tee times and the only fully floodlit 18 in town. Here is how to play Dubai in summer, ranked by strategy, with indicative 2026 rates.

How we ranked the summer options

This is not a list of Dubai's best courses; that lives on our best golf courses in Dubai page. This is a ranking of the smartest ways to actually get 18 holes played between June and September, when daytime temperatures regularly clear 40 degrees Celsius and midday golf is simply off the table. We weighed heat strategy first, then course quality, then summer pricing as listed in June 2026.

The rhythm that works: one round at dawn, breakfast at the turn of the morning, pool and air conditioning through the heat of the day, then either a twilight nine or a full floodlit round after dark. Hydrate aggressively, take a buggy even if you usually walk, and treat the 2 in the afternoon tee time that looks so cheap online as the trap it is.

The summer ranking

1. Emirates Golf Club, Faldo Course · the night round

The single best summer play in the city. The Faldo Course, redesigned by Nick Faldo and reopened in 2006, is the only 18 hole course in Dubai fully floodlit, which means a proper round in the relative cool after dark with the Marina towers glowing beyond the dunes. Summer 2026 rates list at roughly AED 400 weekdays and AED 455 weekends. Evening slots are the hottest ticket of the season, so book days ahead, not hours.

2. Emirates Golf Club, Majlis Course · the dawn round

The grande dame of desert golf, host of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic since 1989, at its summer best in the first hour of light. The Majlis lists a flat summer rate of around AED 660 in 2026, far below its winter pricing, and a 6 in the morning start gets you to the famous 8th before the heat arrives. Read our full guide to playing the Majlis for tee time tactics.

3. Jumeirah Golf Estates, Earth Course · the tournament round

The Greg Norman designed Earth Course, finishing venue of the DP World Tour Championship every November, lists summer 2026 rates around AED 475 weekdays and AED 580 on weekend days, with twilight times from about AED 285 to 350. That is championship golf, in tournament condition by late summer as the overseed approaches, for less than half of what winter visitors pay. Dawn or twilight; nothing in between.

4. Dubai Hills Golf Club · the value round

The big, modern parkland in the middle of the city lists summer rates around AED 465 to 595 in 2026, with the Burj Khalifa standing behind the skyline holes. Wide corridors, immaculate turf and an easy 10 minute run from Downtown hotels make it the least logistics heavy round of the summer rotation, and its academy and floodlit short course suit a family evening.

5. Jumeirah Golf Estates, Fire Course · the twilight nine

The Earth Course's sibling lists summer rates around AED 445 weekdays and AED 495 weekends, with the same twilight windows from roughly AED 285. It is quieter than its tournament neighbor, more residential in feel, and the smart choice for a second Jumeirah round or a late afternoon nine when the night slots at the Faldo are gone.

Coping in the heat: the practical rules

Book the first slot of the day or a floodlit evening, never the middle. Drink water on every tee, not every few holes, and add electrolytes; the dry heat dehydrates faster than it feels. Take the buggy with the misting fan where offered, use the iced towels the clubs hand out, and wear light colors with real sun protection, because the UV index peaks extreme. Hotels run summer rates as soft as the golf pricing, so the whole trip costs a fraction of February. And if anyone in the group cannot face a 5:30 alarm, the Faldo after dark is the answer that keeps the buddies trip together.

Dubai summer golf questions

Can you play golf in Dubai in summer?

Yes. Every major course stays open from June to September. Daytime temperatures regularly exceed 40 degrees Celsius, so play moves to the edges of the day: dawn tee times before the heat builds, twilight rounds, and night golf under floodlights at the Faldo Course at Emirates Golf Club, the only fully floodlit 18 in Dubai. Green fees fall sharply, making summer the value season at courses that cost two to three times more in winter.

How much are Dubai green fees in summer?

Indicatively for summer 2026: the Majlis at Emirates Golf Club around AED 660, the floodlit Faldo about AED 400 to 455, the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates AED 475 to 580 with twilight from about AED 285, and Dubai Hills roughly AED 465 to 595. That is a fraction of peak winter pricing. Rates move with demand; always confirm directly before booking.

What is night golf in Dubai like?

The Faldo Course at Emirates Golf Club is the only 18 hole course in Dubai fully floodlit, with night tee times running late into the evening and the Marina skyline lit up behind the back nine. Temperatures after dark in summer are far more manageable than midday, demand is high, and pricing is similar to daytime summer rates. Book ahead; summer evenings sell out.

Is summer a good time for a Dubai golf trip?

For value, yes, with eyes open. Hotels and green fees are at their cheapest, the marquee courses are quiet, and a dawn plus night golf rhythm works well. But 40 degree days rule out midday golf entirely and outdoor sightseeing is limited. If your dates are flexible and comfort matters more than budget, October to April remains the prime season.
