Innisbrook Resort, Copperhead Course
The clear number one and the only course in the area with a regular PGA Tour stop, host of the Valspar Championship every spring. Larry Packard's Copperhead is unusually rolling for Florida, with tree lined fairways carved through pine and cypress and a brutal closing stretch known as the Snake Pit, the 16th, 17th and 18th. Streamsong Resort
About an hour east of Tampa, Streamsong is the modern wonder of Florida golf, three big, rumpled courses built on reclaimed phosphate land that play like inland links. The Red by Coore and Crenshaw and the Blue by Tom Doak opened in 2014, the Gil Hanse designed Black in 2017. Cabot Citrus Farms
The former World Woods, north of Tampa, reborn under the Cabot banner as one of the most talked about renovations in American golf. The original Tom Fazio layouts have been dramatically reimagined into a multi course property of full eighteens, a short course and a par 3 loop, all sandy, firm and bold. The Concession Golf Club
South of Tampa near Bradenton, The Concession is a long, demanding Nicklaus and Jacklin design named for the famous conceded putt of the 1969 Ryder Cup. Wide corridors give way to exacting approaches over water and wetland, and it has hosted top amateur and professional events. Largely private but accessible to visitors through select stay and play arrangements, it is the area's stiffest modern test.
TPC Tampa Bay
The most accessible upscale daily fee course close to the city, Bobby Weed's TPC Tampa Bay in Lutz was shaped with Chi Chi Rodriguez and long hosted a Champions Tour event.
